What You Need to Know Before You Hire a Handyman
Today I’d like to cover something that continues to come up for me while I am in the field. This is something that really concerns me when it comes to taking care of the customer. For me, it’s the customer satisfaction and doing the work the right way with quality craftsmanship that is important.
When you are looking for a handyman or home improvement company in or the surrounding areas, you want to be sure to do your homework.
You will want to consider this before you hire a handyman. Read on…
As a handyman and home improvement specialist in this area, I have had many home owners call me or talk to me in person regarding other Handyman’s and Contractor’s’ integrity, responsibility or work ethics.
There’s most definitely a difference in the care and guarantee of the work that each handyman or contractor provides to their customers. Unfortunately, there are a lot of people out there that are only concerned in making the next dollar. A lot of times they do this by bidding low on jobs, then going in and doing a job that is poorly constructed with cheap materials. Even though the bid or estimate is lower than the other estimates, they will cut corners wherever they can to get closer to the same net profit as the higher estimates, which is something I have seen.
When you choose to go the cheap route, what you end up with is a finished project that is not done with the proper materials, implementation and care. There are times when a job is finished, you cannot even reach the person who did the job because they know they did a poor job and they were simply in it for the money and have moved on to the next person. For example, using wood bondo for small areas is acceptable, but anything over baseball size should be replaced. Simply said, some will not stand behind their work.
At Residential Improvement Doctor our estimates are based on top quality products, service and workmanship along with a guarantee.
I am fully licensed and insured as a Handyman in the State of Georgia. I am also a Certified Licensed Historian Renovator. We are based in Richmond Hill, GA, but we service all local surrounding areas.
Unfortunately in today’s extremely hard times, we need to make every dollar count for our long term investment. Simply do your homework and ask for references. Utilize an internet search engine to check the business to see if the business has a website, local address, local phone numbers, reviews and licensed and insured.
My advice is to check out who you hire before you hire them and do not always think CHEAP is better… QUALITY is better…for a long term investment.
